It is with a heavy heart that we learn of the passing of former Darvel President Peter Orr.
Peter devoted the latter part of his retirement solely to Darvel “Juniors” as it was then and alongside his comrades resurrected the Club from the darkest days of Ayrshire District Leagues. He was Mr Darvel in practically every sense, he could regularly be found within the Burns Monument in Kilmarnock, running through the archives to piece together our earliest history. Peter was the perfect gentleman, infectious and always well turned out. His devotion, passion and sheer determination for the Club to succeed was left on everyone he spoke too.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to his son David, wife Janice, grandchildren Andrew and Kathryn, wider family and close friends from all at Darvel FC.
Peter was a massive part of our DNA as a Club and it be only right that the Club dedicate our fourth round Scottish Cup tie vs Aberdeen in his memory.
The flag will be at half mast from tomorrow morning, and a minutes applause held at next home game as a mark of respect.
RIP Peter Orr
