As we approach Christmas and the end of 2022, I would like to, on behalf of everyone at Darvel Football Club, wish our fans and friends from across the West of Scotland and beyond a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2023.
Having joined the club just over two months ago, I have been blown away by the welcome I have received from everyone and I am hugely thankful for this. When I first joined I was struck by how community driven the club are and how motivated and ambitious each individual is to drive every area of the club forward over the coming months and years. Together, we will continue to push every aspect to sustain the pride which our supporters have for the club. I would like to especially mention our incredibly hard working committee and volunteers who’s efforts don’t go unmissed. They have been the backbone to how this club runs and we are privileged to have each and every one of them.
I would be foolish not to mention the fantastic work from Michael Kennedy, his management staff and all of the players from over the year. The team have given some absolutely outstanding performances and have created memories and historic results which will live long in the memory of everyone connected with Darvel. We hope that the team will continue to put that hard work into 2023, as we aim to make it another successful year and create even more memories.
Looking ahead to the new year and we have some big plans off the pitch which wouldn’t be possible without the continued backing of our sponsors and supporters and for that we want to thank you all.
As, I’m sure, all of you will be looking forward to our Scottish Cup fourth round tie against Aberdeen, I want to touch on how excited everyone is to bring such an occasion to the town of Darvel. Whilst the option may have been there to use a larger ground for the match, I think it is a credit to John Gall that he prioritised bringing this historic match “Doon The Brae” over making a quick buck. It has been amazing for me to hear the passion that John has for this football club and I know you will all be well aware of how committed he is to making the club successful but I hold so much respect for how much he cares about everyone who enters the ground having a great experience. Together, he and myself want to make Darvel a success for generations to come and I am confident that we have a platform to keep on growing thanks to every foundation he and those involved at the club have put in place over the years.
In order to make Recreation Park as safe as possible and allow for as many people as possible to get tickets we are keen to put in a great deal of work to bring up the capacity of the ground and we will hopefully be able to confirm this as well as details of tickets in the coming weeks once the plans have been approved by the authorities. We know that the match will be absolutely bouncing and it will be an amazing atmosphere and we are already fully aware of how high the demand is for the biggest match to ever be played in Darvel.
Finally I want to end by saying a huge thanks to you, our fans, for the support you have given to the team and to the club throughout 2022. Let’s make this coming year the greatest one yet! Mon the Vale!
Yours,
David Kerr

A warm welcome to our club David, exciting times ahead. The players and playing staff certainly deliver on the park as does John and his hard working committee do off it. A very merry Xmas and a prosperous new year to all and there families.
As the one and only member of the unofficial Darvel Teuchter’s supporters club (based in Ellon), it’s been great fun getting to know the club over the past 18 months or so. Fingers crossed for successful promotion/s into the senior leagues in the years to come so my travelling can include some places a little nearer to home! PS: and as a lifelong Aberdeen fan, I’ll have deeply divided loyalties for the forthcoming cup game!
